So I just got back from beautiful Spearfish, South Dakota for a library management systems conference. Spearfish and its surrounding areas are really, really beautiful. My hotel was around the corner from a scenic route through the Black Hills National Forest. The air was clean. The people were pleasant. I could not wait to get back to city life. It is a rare place that makes Tallahassee, Florida seem urban.
The conference was also one of those where you go and learn valuable information that is highly technical and as interesting as watching paint dry to the rest of my co-workers. I kinda dug it. We talked about system enhancements and where the company is planning to develop new features. We discussed what "improvements" didn't work in our organization and about how some libraries had transformed bugs into actual features.
I had some personal drama since I thought that I lost my brand new Sony SD750 digital camera. I decided that it had gotten lost in one of several airports. Rather than go home empty handed and tell my SO that I had lost it, I replaced it overnight via Amazon. Imagine my surprise when I returned to work to find I had just forgotten it on my desk at work. Now I have two fancy digital cameras and that is just too many. I'll gift one to someone.
